From Apprentice to Founder: A Printer’s 33-Year Story in Xiamen
Let me share a real story with you — one about a man who built something from nothing, step by step, right here in Xiamen.
Mr. Hu’s life can be described in three chapters: escaping poverty, starting a business, and building a better life.
Back in 1992, when he was 21, he was like most young people in China at the time — starting from zero. His dream wasn’t big or flashy — he just wanted to learn a skill and find a foothold in Xiamen. So he became a printing apprentice.
Through hard work and quiet dedication, he quickly worked his way up to become a lead press operator. His progress was steady and grounded — the kind of success that doesn’t make headlines but builds a strong foundation.
At 31, with excellent technical skills in hand, he took the leap and started his own business. He caught the wave of China’s manufacturing boom and rode it steadily.
In 2004, he founded Xiamen Doyoupack Packaging Co., Ltd., a company focused on paper packaging and printing. Over the past 20+ years, we’ve weathered the 2008 financial crisis, the COVID pandemic in 2019, and the economic slowdown in 2023. And yet — we’ve continued to grow steadily, year by year.
Mr. Hu doesn’t do much socializing or small talk. He’s not the kind of businessman who smooth-talks his way into deals. So how did he manage to run a factory for 24 years and earn such a strong reputation in the Xiamen printing industry?
As his daughter — I’ve quietly watched him for a long, long time. And I’ve finally come to understand his way of doing business. Here’s what I’ve learned:

He may not say fancy words, but he knows how to solve problems. As a factory owner with a technical background, he focuses on doing things right.
